Suited and Booted

The England Squad unveil the suits for the World Cup. as part of the Collezione range for Marks and Sparks, the World Cup suits often get criticised and these don't exactly light the world on fire and quite frankly they shouldn't as that's not the test of a great suit. The low cut blazer and high waistcoat works well and you can't go wrong with grey this summer. Designed in collaboration with Savile Row tailor Timothy Everest, they have a touch of class but we can't help but feel M&S are gutted that Becks is missing from this promo pic.

GQ at Selfridges

GQ waltzed into Selfridges on Thursday night with a promise of fashion and more importantly goody bags and they didn't disappoint. Showcasing key trends from the spring summer season, the magazine and Selfridges highlighted a brilliant variety of clothing. Most notably, tailoring, use of primary colours and the traveller look. Take a look at the pics above from the event held at Selfridges Exchange Square.

Kick-Ass Review

Kick-Ass premiered last week amongst a blaze of publicity. Produced by Brad Pitt, directed by Matthew Vaughn and penned by Jonathan Ross' Mrs.; Jane Goldman. It was bound to garner some press attention especially as it features a 12 year old assassin called Hit Girl who only answers to her vigilante father "Big Daddy". Funnily enough the Daily mail took issue with that. Publicity and big names aside the film opened in cinemas yesterday and whilst we had high hopes, they weren't completely dashed. It's not so much a criticism but the film flits from comedy, to fantasy and right back to drama and more often than not it does it in a clumsy manner. Ok, so maybe it was a criticism. But the transition was not as smooth as one would have hoped for. Highpoints for us funnily enough came in the form of "Hit Girl". Perhaps because she was a foul mouthed child assassin that riled the Daily Mail but she was often the highlight and saviour of the film in more ways than one. A particular low point for us came in the form of Christopher "McLovin"Mintz-Plasse whose ropey acting and clunky dialogue left us questioning the longevity of his career post Superbad. Aaron Johnson did well as the hero of the film with impressive acting and a thoroughly convincing American accent. Overall the film is a good watch, providing some laughs, drama and a strong plot but we couldn't help feel it didn't achieve its full potential.

P Diddy and Crystal Palace may collaborate

None other than the BBC are reporting that P Diddy is thinking of moving into the football business. With the artist formerly known as Puff Daddy's publicist confirming the matter to the Beeb, the administrator of Crystal Palace has said he would "welcome an approach" by the rap star. Mr Guilfoyle, of The P&A Partnership financial firm, said he was "a big hip-hop fan" and would be "delighted if P-Diddy wanted to buy Crystal Palace". In January, Palace had 10 points deducted after going into administration. They are currently fourth from bottom in the Championship having previously been pushing for a play-off place.

The Wish List

Everyone has a wish list. Stuff you just can't quite afford yet. And whilst Selfridges don't do instalments, we scrimp and save to indulge ourselves in the latest must have items. Here is what we want and are waiting for at QanMag.

1) Mini One

2) Tom Ford Sunglasses

3) Burberry Trench Coat

4) Deepika Pandukone

We'll keep you updated if we ever tick any of these off our list. What's on your wishlist?

Fiddy tells us to expect the unexpected

According to reports 50 Cent is recording a dance album, inspired by his trips to European clubs. 50 said: "I went to a nightclub after party. It was different music after a while. The music they were playing before they were playing the music I created was more up-tempo, more dance.

"I wanted to make a song like that, so I went into the studio. Because I'm travelling with my live band, I took the band with me and we sequenced it and recorded the actual record while we was out there."

In an attempt to improve lacklustre sales He added: "I won't allow myself to be placed in a box where I can only do one style, or do one kind of music.

"They should expect the unexpected on this one. If they can understand how I enjoy different genres of music and different styles, for the people who have various tastes in music, they'll really like it." we're not gonna hold our breath on this one.

Oscars

Whilst Oscar fashion for men often proves to be particularly dull. Three gents stood out from the crowd on Sunday's red carpet. Tom Ford always cuts a dapper figure because well quite frankly he's Tom Ford. Woody Harrelson breaks the mould in a custom designed Burberry tux made entirely out of hemp. And finally Robert Downey Jr brings the cool by rocking a blue bow tie and trainers.

Is LeBron James Changing Numbers?

According to reports, LeBron James filed paperwork with the NBA to change his uniform number from No. 23 to No. 6. The move is particularly savvy as collectors will now scurry for current No. 23 LeBron jerseys and Fans will add the No. 6 LeBron jerseys to their list of must-have items. Some fans are defending LeBron's number swap as simply a way for him to further distinguish himself from Michael Jordan. But most believe that Once LeBron switches numbers, his next merchandise windfall will be very, very significant.

Doctor Who(?)

The new Doctor who cuts a dapper figure in a shoot for Esquire magazine. Matt smith talks of how he only began considering acting after his promising football career was cut short. The actor was tipped to become a professional footballer, playing for Leicester City and Nottingham Forest youth teams. But an injury at the age of 16 forced him to give up the game, and led him to take up drama.

Gemma Arterton plays coy

Despite vamping it up in the tedious "Quantum of Solace" Gemma Arterton thinks she was 'not hot enough' to play a Bond girl and that she is 'really average'. Needless to say she decided the best way to display this would be in a sexy GQ shoot. Gemma fronts the April issue of the British issue which is on sale Thursday.

Gucci by Gucci Sport Pour Homme

After the success of Gucci's first fragrance James Franco is back to front the campaign for the fashion house's second campaign.

Gucci creative director Frida Giannini reveals:

"The original fragrance was such a phenomenal success, but is actually quite dressy and formal in its spirit. I wanted to expand the story of the scent into a man's free time and the more casual moments in his life.

I don't necessarily link it literally with sports. It's more a sporty state of mind. Meaning, off-duty time and the attitude that comes from being relaxed and carefree."

This time around, Gucci Sport will have a new "fresher and lighter fragrance" for those with an active lifestyle. The scent combines touches or grapefruit, mandarin, and cypress with warmer touches like fig, juniper berries, and cardamom among the others.

Ronaldo Cashes In

Nike will pay Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo six million euros per year until 2014 under a new sponsorship deal it has reached with the Portuguese winger. The 25-year-old earned 4.5 million euros under his previous contract with the world's largest sporting goods maker.

Whilst the new deal makes Ronaldo the best paid footballer of those which Nike sponsors, the amount he makes is still lower than that dished out to other athletes, such as basketball stars Kobe Bryant and LeBron James of the NBA. Bryant, who plays for the L.A. Lakers, earns 7.5 million euros a year while James, who plays for Cleveland, earns nine million euros per year.

Apparently there were attempts by Adidas to lure Ronaldo away however Nike stepped up its negotiations. Also recently Nike erected a 10 metre statue of the footballer in Madrid. The statue of the world's most expensive player is 10 metres in height and silver in colour, featuring the player standing over a football. The Plaza de Ramales was renamed the 'Praça de Ronaldo' for the duration of the day

GQ names its Fashion 100

GQ names the 100 most influential people in fashion. Whilst the number one is indisputable we take issue with some of the entries. Although Robert Pattinson is a great dresser, naming him the 5th most influential person in fashion seems a little farfetched, here is what GQ has to say:

10) Christopher Colfer

The CEO of Dunhill is working hard at turning the UK's most famous luxury menswear label into the British Hermès.

9) Gordon Richardson

With his white quiff and trademark short trousers, Topman Design Director Richardson is an instantly recognisable figure. Under his direction, the High Street juggernaut is now one of the most envied menswear retailers on the planet.

8) Richard Bradbury

River Island's CEO is passionate about promoting new talent and the company has sponsored Graduate Fashion Week for the past six years. In that time he has employed more than 200 graduates.

7) John Galliano

The designer for Dior has his own menswear label and recently launched a lower-priced diffusion range. He claims he is his own inspiration and is one of the most inspirational menswear designers working today

6) Christopher Bailey

Burberry's Creative Director has been credited with turning the once-staid London label into an international fashion powerhouse.

5) Robert Pattinson

Voted GQ's best-dressed man of 2010, the Twilight actor is today's ultimate male fashion icon.

4) Sir Paul Smith

The ex-Nottingham shopkeeper has never put a fashion foot wrong. He has come to represent all that is best about British menswear: well-made, a little quirky and always interesting.

3) Paul Kelly

Last year, the Irishman in charge of Selfridges celebrated the iconic Oxford Street store's centenary and has overseen it becoming more influential than ever.

2) Sir Harold Tillman

The acquisition of Aquascutum last year made the Jaeger mogul a serious force in the luxury menswear market and his position as Chairman of the British Fashion Council makes him a global ambassador for the best of British.

1) Sir Philip Green

This self-made billionaire dominates the British retail scene. His support for inspirational menswear at London Fashion Week shows he realises that the continued success of his bottom line depends on taking risks.

This is McQueen's England

Here is the last line created by the late Alexander McQueen for his second line, McQ. With echoes of punk, it is a departure point for the line, and it pays tribute to the 80s which has undoubtedly made its strongest resurgence yet. McQueen brings us rebellion, stylized figures and a skinhead look combined with slim silhouettes, striking colourwashes, short-sleeved shirts and classic check shirts.

The Return of the Chelsea Boot

They've had several names, pointy boots, Cuban heels, S*** flickers (I don't think the boot makers care much for the last one) but more commonly known as Chelsea Boots. The pointy mod shoes are well and truly on the way back in. Russell brands been sporting them for a while but were not saying to live in them as he often does, not that we know him personally, we've just seen him papped a lot. Here at Qan Mag we've been sporting our Chelsea boots on nights out for while and although they may have been on and off trend they've always gone down a storm, till someone stands on them... anyway in the spirit of their resurgence Qan Mag has once again scoured the internet for the best Chelsea boots on offer. Take a look above. (Stockists below).

The Fashion Evolution of Robert Pattinson

There was a time where Robert Pattinson was Cedric Diggory off Harry Potter, a young actor not particularly known for being cool or fashionable. Fast forward a few years, Pattinson topped GQ's best dressed list for his seemingly effortless rock look. Another Jonas mishap

One of the other Jonas brothers...Ok Nick Jonas, no point acting like we don't know his name...was recently spotted looking like he had fallen over in Claire's accessories and found this lovely headband. after this from his older brother (http://qanmag.blogspot.com/2010/02/joe-jonas-street-style.html) We can't help but feel the Jonas' stylists may be on holiday.

Nautical but Nice

Qan Mag has been...fortunate... enough to have first hand experience of fashion Retail for several years and we can't help but feel that our mother was right when she proclaimed "Fashion Goes around in circle you know.." of course she was right but needless to say we laughed at her lunacy and popped the collar on frayed polo and pop locked out the room. that was before our interest in fashion emerged and more recently however we see that on a day to day basis fashion does indeed move in a cyclical fashion and much faster than you may think., for example during our time at Topshop we noticed that every spring/summer the highs street staple would reintroduce African inspired patterns in one trend alongside the spring summer staple that is the Nautical trend.

This trend emerges without fail every year and for the past few years it has juts grown stronger. Here at Qan Mag we are huge followers of the Nautical Preppy look and wait with baited breath for summer to re-emerge so we can don our deck shoes dick out our trilbies and earn our stripes. So in anticipation of this we have scoured the internet for a look at all things nautical and nice and take our look at our selection and tell us what you think...well you the drill matey.
